Call for Papers – 2014 Virginia Water Conference – Richmond, VA
March 9-11, 2014
Abstracts Due: November 15, 2013
The Virginia Floodplain Management Association (VFMA), in conjunction with the Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association (VLWA), is seeking abstracts for presentation at the 2014 Virginia Water Conference. Recent conferences have provided an excellent opportunity to learn about current local, state, and federal regulations and practices in floodplain management. The conference is typically attended by 300 professionals from the public and private sectors. Presentations are selected based on the abstract summaries, which will be published in the conference proceedings.
Please submit floodplain management-related abstracts to VFMA in a Microsoft Word™ format. The file name should not contain any spaces; use underscore (_) only. Use letter-sized format with one-inch margins all around and 10-point typeface with a maximum of one such page. Abstracts must include the presentation title as well as the name, organization, mailing address, e-mail, and phone number of only the speakers who are presenting at the conference. Separately, submit a brief biographical sketch for each speaker. Include name, organization, position, college/university, and related interests. Submit electronic copies of the abstract and biographical sketch to:
Jeff Smith, P.E., PMP, CFM
Please do not submit materials for floodplain-management-related topics to VLWA, but to VFMA as noted above. If topics are received that would fit better in a concurrent VLWA conference track, VFMA will pass those abstracts to VLWA for consideration. Authors will be notified regarding initial acceptance by December 13, 2013, and the program will be published by January 31, 2014.
All speakers must register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee through VLWA. VLWA handles the registrations and all fees and has a concurrent call for papers. In addition, exhibition space and conference sponsorships are available. Please visit the VLWA website for additional details (www.vlwa.org) or contact Jeff Smith at email@example.com.
