DCR Floodplain Manager – applications due 11/13/13!
The Virginia Dam Safety & Floodplain Management Division is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Floodplain Manager for the Virginia Floodplain Management Program. The individual in this position is responsible for conducting reviews of local floodplain programs and ordinances, conducting workshops, coordinating local official’s requests with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), assisting with the Virginia Flood Risk Information System, Community Rating System and assisting with declared flood disasters in Virginia. DCR Announces L-273 Class
DCR has announced that they are planning a free training session entitled, “EMI’s L-273 Course on Managing Floodplain Development through the NFIP”. It will be held in early November in the western part of Virginia, probably at Hungry Mother State Park. DCR will also offer the CFM exam at the end of the class, on Friday afternoon, as we’ve done in the past. VFMA will also post details on our website once they are received from DCR.
